SPOHNC Turns 10 !!

On Sunday, June 3, 2001, SPOHNC celebrated its tenth anniversary.  Over 200 guests, including oral and head and neck cancer survivors of up to and beyond 30 years were in attendance.

Some of the notable highlights included:

• Launching of the new Oral and Head and Neck Cancer awareness ribbon.  
• Speeches by James J. Sciubba, DMD, PhD. and Keith Heller, M.D., F.A.C.S.
• Dr. Heller announced that Nancy Leupold (SPOHNC founder and president) has been selected to be the recipient of the 2002 Presidential Citation of the American Head and Neck Society, which will be awarded at the society's next annual meeting.
• Presentation of "Surviving Cancer" by actor, comedian and renaissance man, Alan King.
• Special presentation to Nancy Leupold in appreciation of her hard work and accomplishments.  Also honored, was Nancy's husband, Karl.
• A special acknowledgement of oral and head and neck cancer survivors.  All cancer survivors were presented with flowers!
