SPOHNC is dedicated to meeting the needs of oral
and head and neck cancer survivors, their families and friends and to furthering
its goals of raising awareness of oral and head and neck cancer and educating
the public about the health and lifestyle challenges facing those diagnosed
with the disease.
During the last several years, SPOHNC has received numerous
inquiries about a ribbon to help raise awareness of oral and head and neck
cancer. On June 3, 2001, at the
10th Anniversary Celebration of the Founding of SPOHNC, we introduced an
awareness ribbon to the public for the first time. This ribbon consists
of three stripes, one stripe of burgundy and two stripes of ivory symbolizing
oral and head and neck cancer. It is SPOHNC’s hope that by wearing and
displaying this ribbon in various forms, we can all do our part in supporting
cancer survivors and raising public awareness of this rare disease.
And now, in addition to the awareness ribbon that is being
distributed nationwide we have a custom designed 1" soft enamel pin with gold
plating and butterfly clutch back.
