Clinical trials are research studies that test how well new medical approaches work in people with all stages of head and neck cancers. They have a natural place in your review of treatment options as doctors strive to improve current head and neck cancer treatments and search for new and better options. Today there are hundreds of targeted therapies and immunotherapies in development, so there are more options to consider than ever before.
How does the service work?
Our Clinical Trial Navigators will help you quickly search for clinical trials that match your specific diagnosis, stage and treatment history. The same Navigator will follow up with you to make sure you are successfully connected to the studies and doctors that interest you. We always encourage you to discuss clinical trial options with your health care team, but you are always free to contact a study team navigator for a trial to which you have been matched to learn more about a study.
When to search for clinical trials?
We recommend that you search for clinical trial options before you begin your first treatment and again each time you are making a new treatment decision. We don’t know if you will find any clinical trials that interest you, but we feel strongly that head and neck cancer patients should stay informed about their clinical trial options. We never want to hear someone say: “I wish I had known about that earlier”. The service is free for patients and families; it is unbiased and completely confidential.
